To the stars and beyond…

Words from our happy clients.

“Noel worked for Techspace Consulting Limited for 9 months as the ICT Programme Manager for a very new, high profile financial services organisation. The primary purpose was to establish a programme approach and project team to deliver the IT project outcomes required to support business priorities.
The environment was extremely political and required a significant amount of stakeholder engagement and influence up to the most senior levels. It also required a good working knowledge of a diverse number of projects and their progress and more importantly, determining what priority that should have and who was best to deliver. This situation was driven by the need to meet strict legislative deadlines. Noel therefore had to juggle establishing best project practices with securing the best resource as well as guiding and overseeing delivery. No easy feat.

Noel achieved the above successfully. His success was in large part, the result of carefully and selectively building a high performing team. Noel was/is always very professional in his approach. Noel is also a natural, authentic people leader / manager who enrols his team very effectively. I would welcome Noel back as part of the Techspace team should a suitable opportunity present.”

“Image Centre engaged Rocket Projects to assist us with the outsourcing of our payroll so that we could invest in our Human Resources capabilities and spend less time and money on administrative activities. Aston set to work immediately assessing our current situation, exploring options in the wider market that would suit our requirements as well as looking for opportunities to add value to the project. What resulted was a great example of blending professional HR skills with commercial acumen and project management expertise. The result is a solution that fits our wider ERP strategy, significantly improves efficiencies in our payroll while reliably paying our staff, and reduces our risk profile through elimination of single point sensitivity. Aston’s recommended solution challenged some of the initial assumptions we had for the project and helped us to achieve a better outcome than we could have envisaged.”

“We owe you huge credit for the way you have led this programme and made it such as success. It couldn’t have been any better. In particular we have appreciated the way you have coached the project leads to build their skills and confidence. Thank you so much, it has been a great pleasure to work with you. All best wishes.”
Allison Dobbie
Manager Libraries and Information, Auckland Council

“‘Thank goodness we have you on board Ann-Marie…’ That became my mantra almost from the start of Ann-Marie’s contract. She very quickly got to grips with the project, the outcomes we were working towards and developed a practical and achievable methodology to get there. She was able to engage with a diverse range of subject matter experts and understand the issues related to the design of a suite of processes for the business. Ann-Marie is highly organised and has a real strength for drilling into and documenting the detail needed to define processes and procedures. Knowledge management is also a strength and she ensured all information was in an accessible format to hand over at the end of the project. Ann-Marie would be my first point of call for any future projects requiring this mix of skills.”

“We needed a rapid assessment of our business analysis practice capability maturity to benchmark our future capability development. We selected Rocket Projects because their assessment model is specifically tailored to apply best practice standards to New Zealand organisations. We also appreciated the attitude and energy of their people. Their flexibility, experience, drive, engagement and excellent assessment tools enabled successful delivery against our tight timeframe. The resulting assessment is both detailed enough to be used as a guide by the practice and high level enough to spark executive engagement. We’re delighted with the outcome.”

USPO Business Analysis Practice Manager, The University of Auckland

“Susan has been a great addition to the Argenta family. It has been a pleasure working with her over the past six months. We have benefited from her wealth of knowledge and experience in project, programme and portfolio management. Susan has an incredible work ethic and has been a great mentor. The project managers and I have learnt a great deal. In the process of setting up templates and processes in line with project management best practices, she has also interacted with other team members in various departments. I have heard nothing but great things about her. She has truly added value to our business and I am grateful to you for recommending her for our PMO assignment. I hope we stay in touch and get a chance to work together in the near future.”
Rana Ali
Client Manager – New Business, Argenta

“I engaged Rocket Projects to project manage a difficult business integration, bringing together 3 separate entities procured under the CHEP banner by Brambles. The focus of the engagement was to standardise business processes within 17 global offices whilst migrating data and users from legacy systems onto a new release of the in-house CHEP operations management system. Due to business constraints, the timeline for the project was particularly tight and therefore risky. Despite these challenges, Derek Williams provided excellent guidance, negotiating an achievable scope at the start of the project, communicating his plans to managers and staff at all levels, defining a training programme and delivering scope within agreed deadlines. We could not have succeeded with this project without him.”
James Everett
Director – MRO Network, CHEP Aerospace Solutions

“At Digital Island we set a goal in 2012 to move our customer service from great to unbelievable! To enable this, we implemented the Salesforce Service CRM software package, integrated with our existing ERP system. Digital called in Kate Victor, an experienced project manager from Rocket Projects, to oversee the implementation. Kate took up day-to-day management of the relationship with the third-party supplier to ensure they delivered to scope and within the agreed timeframe. This was challenging at times due to the supplier’s workload with other clients and she had to keep pressure on them. She also kept a close eye on communication with the Digital team on upcoming milestones such as testing and training, and she coordinated these key activities. Kate established a formal project structure with regular project meetings, issue and risk management, and reporting. Prioritised issues were resolved in a timely manner. The project was delivered earlier than initially expected and Digital Island are already seeing benefits with dashboards and better performance reporting. Look out for some unbelievable customer service!”

“From thinking all this planning at the front was a waste of time and we “just wanted to get on with it” to really seeing the value of a well-honed programme manager, Waikato District Council moved a long way in a short time. This was a tough project: an immovable deadline, no budget and staff inexperienced in a project of this magnitude. Brett Dodson’s value came in his global experience, knowledge of IT systems, his ability to rally a team and then develop their project management skills along the way. He was a hard task master (in the nicest possible way) but in the end we had no significant hiccups, we met the deadline and we came in under budget. Put simply we couldn’t have done it without him.”
Tony Whittaker,
General Manager – Strategy and Support, Waikato District Council

“You often hear the saying that the devil is in the details – well no devil was going to be allowed to hide in the detail with Katrina around. Katrina (Lund-Tangye) was relentless in her drive for perfection, for turning over every rock, for making sure everyone understood and at the very end for rolling her sleeves up and getting on with it. She has well developed project management skill and was a pleasure to work with.”
Tony Whittaker,
General Manager – Strategy and Support, Waikato District Council

“Mandy joined our team during a challenging period of change and proved a great fit from the outset. We appreciated her ability to understand our business and practical approach to implementing a new project management framework. Mandy worked tirelessly with individuals (many of whom had no project management experience), building their confidence and project management capabilities. She produced extraordinary results across an entire programme of infrastructure projects, giving our business a much clearer understanding of its true position. Mandy’s collaborative nature improved relationships with other internal teams and provided a seamless whole of life approach to our projects. Mandy has a fantastic attitude. Combined with her outstanding knowledge of project management she adds tremendous value to any business.”
Tracey Oliver,
Programme manager, Auckland Council

“ViFX engaged Rocket Projects in July 2010 to manage a key client project that we had worked very hard to win. They identified what was required very quickly, sorted out governance and reporting issues and gave the client sponsor the confidence he needed. It was a major contribution at a very important time. They now have the project running ahead of plan – a challenging task in a multi-vendor environment. They also prepared a simple Project Management Framework to enable consistently high quality in the way we manage our client assignments – we are currently implementing this framework. We look forward to working closely with Rocket Projects as our business continues to grow and develop. Thanks guys!”

Managing Director, ViFX Limited

“Hadas was quickly able to assess the situation and rapidly addressed the issues impacting poor project performance. She changed some project team personnel, addressed issues of what she described as a lack of integrity in the team, developed a clearer sense of purpose and was able to take the Project Management Plan and develop an effective implementation approach. The project has to date successfully gone live with modules across all three functional areas and from both vendors. This has involved change management of both administrative and academic users with effective training and communications support… Hadas has been particularly accomplished at key stakeholder management across the many diverse stakeholders in the University and quickly gained the confidence of the Project Steering Group, Executive Sponsors and other key staff.”
Dr. John Smart,
Director of Research Management, The University of Auckland

“I had the pleasure of working with Noel in 2009 when he provided project management support and advice to Housing New Zealand Corporation in the project planning phase of the Tamaki Transformation Programme. Tamaki is New Zealand’s largest urban renewal project, comprising comprehensive redevelopment of the Corporation’s portfolio of 2,870 residential units situated on 166 hectares, ten kilometres from the Auckland Central Business District, in a prime riverside location. Noel added real value at the planning phase. He provided simple and effective project management guidance which assisted to identify governance structure issues and a strategy for advancing the work programme. Noel is professional and courageous in his advice. He is someone with whom I hope to work again in the future. I willingly recommend Noel to any prospective employer.”
Graham Bodman,
Programme Director – Tamaki, Housing New Zealand Corporation

“Noel Robinson has assisted Vodafone in undertaking one mammoth of a project replacing the Billing, Customer Service, Provisioning, Rating and various associated systems across New Zealand, Australia & Fiji. One of the key challenges of this project was to achieve a consistent vision across three very different & competitive market places in the very dynamic and fast moving industry of mobile telecommunications. Noel assisted me in working through a fantastic process to align the three executives with the vision and scope of the project so we started off with the highest chances of success. He was also instrumental in developing critical stakeholder management and change management processes & procedures to ensure that the project management team was focused in the right areas as we moved through this lengthy project. These initiatives were a key success factor during the project lifetime of 5 years. Noel’s ability to work with people from all levels of the organization, from boardroom through to customer services representatives ensured that we had great engagement and information flow. I have no hesitation in recommending Noel to assist and support those wishing to undertake significant projects.”
Andrea Midgen,
Regional Executive Sponsor, Program Sam, Vodafone New Zealand

“Noel Robinson was appointed Project Manager for the implementation of Dynamics AX, the new Wickliffe ERP system in February 2008. Wickliffe is an integrated communications provider with significant revenue from print, warehousing, logistics, and electronic commerce. Wickliffe employs 300 people nationally across New Zealand, of which 200 are active ERP users. The project was complex and followed an earlier unsuccessful implementation project.

Noel’s project management at Wickliffe was very structured and professional. His methodology identified and engaged all stakeholders and established a clear project structure incorporating feedback mechanisms as well as management and control at every level. This included a Steering Committee for project governance and project teams for each significant thread of activity and user groups to develop and verify specifications and requirements. Each of these teams and activities were co-ordinated and monitored using very comprehensive reporting with easy to read, dynamic documents on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. These reports clearly defined project progress and highlighted deviations from expectation and areas for urgent attention. This discipline enabled each member of the team to prioritise activity, optimise resource allocation and so secure project targeted outcomes.

This combination of project structure and reporting, as well as careful planning at the outset, delivered a smooth well functioning project. We valued Noel’s input to our project highly and have no hesitation in endorsing and recommending him as project manager.”
Charles Miller,
General Manager, Operations, Wickliffe Limited

“Katrina was responsible for setting up and running the project reporting and control tool (iTools) that was fundamental to the control of the significant portfolio of projects that Progressive was running at the time. She used her extensive and effective knowledge of project management to guide and coach people in the use of the processes, and was very successful in allowing me, as the CIO, to monitor in near real-time all our active and planned projects within a short space of time each week. As a result of Katrina’s work we were also able to increase the time available for projects from about 20% to 45% of available hours – a significant and valuable increase in capability for no additional cost.”
Alan Hesketh,
General Manager, Information Technology, Progressive Enterprises Limited

“Noel was brought into Provenco at a critical time when the group was going through a significant growth phase. Accounting and service support systems were being implemented in haste to meet the demands of growth without the appropriate backing of fully developed business processes. Noel was quick to bring a discipline and a logical business approach to ensure that all aspects of a project were captured and approved prior to commencement. The demand for change was very real and the key stakeholders had become increasingly frustrated through their perceived lack of support. During this time Noel brought to the group the leadership and business maturity which allowed him to prioritise a relatively large number of assignments in the pipeline. Projects moved forward at a faster rate, delivered the outcomes required and came in on or under budget. The impact Noel had and the respect he received from across the group was significant.”

CFO, Provenco Group Limited
